Review of the Introduction to Videomaking and Storytelling Course in Ivančice, Czech Republic
I recently participated in the "Introduction to Videomaking and Storytelling" course held from November 27 to December 3, 2024, in Ivančice, Czech Republic, and it was an enriching experience. This training provided a solid foundation in videomaking, animation, and visual storytelling, all while emphasizing the importance of inclusion and social impact.
The course was well-structured, starting with the fundamentals of videomaking. The instructors were not only knowledgeable but also encouraged creativity and experimentation. I appreciated how they integrated hands-on practice into the learning process, allowing us to apply the concepts in real-time. The interactive workshops were particularly effective, as we worked in groups to develop our storytelling techniques and create engaging media content.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the course was the focus on inclusion. We explored how storytelling can be a powerful tool for social impact, and I left with a deeper understanding of how to craft narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. The group projects fostered collaboration and allowed us to share different perspectives, enriching the overall learning experience.
By the end of the week, each participant had produced a short film or animation that reflected our learnings and commitment to inclusive storytelling. The feedback sessions were invaluable, providing constructive critiques that helped enhance our final projects.
Overall, this training course is highly recommended for anyone interested in videomaking and storytelling, especially those who want to make a difference through their work. I came away with new skills, a network of creative peers, and a renewed passion for using media as a tool for change.
Feel free to adjust any parts to better reflect your personal experience!

International Project in Ivančice: Digital Inclusion in Practice
The first part of training course AnimAction Lab, co-funded by the European Union, took place from 27 November to 3 December 2024. The project was hosted by Horizont – Leisure Centre in Ivančice. Twenty-nine participants from different countries gathered in the Czech Republic to learn about different digital tools and their application for promoting social inclusion.
The programme, carefully prepared by Eduard Oganyan and Natalia Skorik, included a wide range of activities. It focused on storytelling, video production, applying visual effects, stop-motion, animation and other techniques. The emphasis was on practical application and sharing knowledge among participants. Informal activities, organised by the participants themselves, helped to foster friendships and provided a deeper understanding of other cultures where the participants come from – such as Turkey, Greece, Poland, Lithuania and Russian-speaking regions. Czech culture also became an integral part of the programme, particularly thanks to the festive atmosphere associated with the Advent season.
Having participated in a project led by trainers Eduard and Natalia in cooperation with Horizont for the second time, I can confidently say that I once again gained many new insights. Most of all, I appreciate the practical nature of the course, which allowed us to master various digital formats and techniques in a short timeframe. The inspiring atmosphere that prevailed contributed not only to personal growth but also to the high quality of the outcomes. One of the most intense experiences was the night before the project presentations. Despite tiredness and exhaustion, we overcame all challenges through mutual support and created memorable videos that I will cherish for a long time.
The skills, experiences, and ideas gained during the first part of the training course will be further developed during the second part, scheduled to take place from 21 to 27 March 2025. This time, participants will focus on producing a comprehensive promotional video aimed at supporting social inclusion. The final outcome promises to be a valuable contribution to society and further activities focused on social cohesion and understanding.
